Biographies

 

Katie Hardwick originally trained in gymnastics and theatre, beginning circus skills at the age of nine - she was a member of the Young Peoples’ Programme at The Circus Space, on which she later taught.

Whilst studying English Literature with creative writing at University College Falmouth, Katie worked with the Circo Kernow branch of Swamp Circus, performing and teaching adults and children. She became a student representative for the Hall for Cornwall theatre and represented the Circo Kernow youth circus at Circus Arts Forums.

Since returning to London, Katie works as a performer, teacher and choreographer. She is a founder of Circus Suburbia, working as their circus project director.

 

 

Leyla Rees trained from the age of eight in dance, circus and classical music. She plays piano and saxophone to grade 8.

Leyla studied and taught aerial dance at The Circus Space, and after completing an Art Foundation at Central Saint Martin’s she went on to The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. She has worked on aerial collaborations with fine artists  Marnie Hollande and Scarlet Winter.

Leyla has danced for Race and Rhythm dance company and is a founder of Leaf dance where she has choreographed pieces for The Laban centre and Cloud dance festival.
